MILLARD HOUSE
TEXTILE BLOCK
Pasadena, CA (1923)
The Millard House is situated near a ravine, one of the few houses Frank Lloyd Wright designed for such a site; he generally preferred hilltops. Frank Lloyd Wright’s enthusiasm for his new block - houses convinced former client Alice Millard to try one. The rooms of the Millard House are vertically stacked and feature beautiful overlooks. Balconies give the house an open feel. The entire house is supported by metal framework inside the concrete blocks.
