THE WHIRLING ARROW
KEY CHAIN
This product is an adaptation of the Whirling Arrow design created by Frank Lloyd Wright and is one of numerous versions, dating from the thirties and forties, that he created as a logo for the Taliesin West and the Taliesin Fellowship. It was Mr. Wright’s interpretation of an Indian petroglyph found when the Taliesin West Campus was being constructed, and from the drawing of this symbol used in 1940 when the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation was established. It reminded Mr. Wright of two hands clasping in a gesture of “friendship” which is also symbolic of the Taliesin Fellowship, a residential community of Apprentices and Teachers associated with the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture.
