DOAN HOUSE MURAL
MIDLAND, MICHIGAN c. 1961-62
Designed by Eugene Masselink
Eugene Masselink (1910-1962) came to Taliesin and Taliesin West in the 1930s, as a student with a degree in art and a desire to learn from Frank Lloyd Wright. He soon became indispensable to Mr. Wright and acted not only as his personal secretary for over twenty years, but also was an active participant in numerous projects designed my Mr. Wright.
Masselink developed his own unique graphic design style, using abstract natural forms that was very compatible with Mr. Wright’s designs and philosophy, and designed major murals, screens and doors for such buildings as the Price Tower, the Elizabeth Gordon House and the Price House.
This Throw is an adaptation of Masselink’s Mural design for the L.L. Doan House in Midland, Michigan which was designed by Alden Dow, also a student of Mr. Wright, and is one of the Taliesin Design™ Collection Products
